Reilly wants a minimum wage increase

Attorney General & candid for the governor Thomas F. Reilly joined the chorus of workers, unions, and lawmakers calling for the state to adopt the highest minimum wage in the nation. Speaking to more than 100 workers and supporters of a proposal to increase the wage to $8.25 an hour , Reilly said he plans to urge his colleagues in the Legislature, and further offered that as governor, he would 'sign this bill with pride."
The state's minimum wage, last adjusted in 2001, is $6.75 an hour; the federal government has set a $5.15 minimum wage. Who ever on the federal level has set that rate has no idea of cost of living. It is impossible for an average American to pay rent, bills, buy food etc that kind of money to mention, if one has to support his/her family.$8.25 sounds so much more reasonable one more time shows the knowledge of average people and their needs.Unforunatelly one person is not about to make a huge difference and that is a little bit depressing Reilly is making steps towards better future for people of Massachusetts let's just hope he will keep the promise after he becomes a governor.

Systemic failure? Or horrible negligence?

"Something went terribly wrong here and you can't sweep something like this under the rug," Reilly said. "You just can't do it." Words of critic an disapproval from Tom Reilly after reading repot on Haleigh Poutre case.
Little girl mane Haleigh was admitted to intensive care at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield(Massachusetts) on Sept. 11 with a traumatic brain injury that left her in a coma. Police later charged her adoptive mother and stepfather with abuse. Harry Spence, commissioner of the state Department of Social Services, which has custody of Haleigh, has conceded the agency missed some signs of past abuse, partly because doctors and staff believed the girl was injuring herself. The story continues and it is not getting better Haleigh is now in a rehabilitation center wants to make sure that the case does not get on the shelve as a closed file not being looked at closely is nice to see for a change attorney general actually doing something in the name of law trying to protect innocence.

Reilly wants to help students make better choices...

"I'm an example of what America has to offer its people," the attorney general said. Reilly while in schools was not the best student himself but through staying in school and making good choices he finally graduated from law school and is now very successful wants Massachusetts to have offer a lot to young people so they decide to stay in the state."Massachusetts has lost 170,000 jobs since 2001. We rank 45th in the nation in job growth and we're the only state to lose population in the past two years," he said. "People 25-30 years old are leaving Massachusetts and that shouldn't be happening. We're better than that. There's nothing wrong with Massachusetts that can't be fixed by what's right with Massachusetts." Reilly's plan has variety of ideas, good ideas starting from education ending in health care. If only half of them will get through better times will come for Massachusetts.

Bill on the gangs didn't pass the legislature

This bill is one of many pieces of legislature that were held up .''Really the question is: What's the House going to do?"Reilly was really counting on it, and decision is disapointing. We not only have to protect witnesses but also hold them accountable he says.Often they avoid the responsibility and do not want testify letting gang memers go back in the streets and commit more crimes. The House and Senate have to come to agreement and pass the bill so the change can be made.

Math and Science Education...time for a change..

Tom Reilly offered new plan to help im[prove math and science skills among student. Is is not a surprise or news for us that American students are far behind in mathematics and science in comperison to students around the world. The level of those subjects thought in schools is disapointing and we have to change that to preper our students for the adult lifes and promesing careeres. We have target those issues and finally do something about it.Reilly spoke to business leaders at the North Shore Chamber of Commerce in Danvers and then to students at the Brookmeadow Elementary School in Needham, Reilly outlined his S.M.A.R.T. (Science + Math Achieve the Rewards of Tomorrow). The keyis to get kids interest in those areas of study so we don't force books on them;we want them to reach for books themselvs, ask questions and understand how important the science is. If we have to do that through awarding them let be so, and let's just hope that soon the knowledge will be the only award they are looking for.

Poll results

Boston news- new poll that has been made for the gubernatorial candidates shows that Tom Reilly has lost some his support in democratics voters. The survey was taken at the university of Massatusetts and 400 eligble voters were polled;the poll was taken two weeks ago and showed 9% drop from the prvious one taken in September. There is one position in the survey where Reilly does not appear to be a bad candidate. 53% gives him a credit for what he does and how he's doing it;on the other hand 43% does not see him as governor of Massachusetts.

Tom Reilly earned himself a place on ballot by being a avarage citizen who sees the problems which his state is experiencing.Reilly traveled to caucus locations – thanking supporters and sharing his vision for Massachusetts which is so close to the vision of Joe Doe.
“Our goal was to win the 15% of the delegates needed to get on the ballot in September. I am pleased to say that we have accomplished that goal by a significant margin. In fact, we did significantly better than we anticipated in a number of communities.
Tom Reilly seeks additional funds for police departments;Police departments, Reilly writes, ''need more help to keep our streets safe."In 2005 Massachusets recived only $1.4 million which is definitelly drop in the sea of needs.the Community Oriented Policing Services program which is suppose to help better protect citizens.Being attorney general Tom Reilly more than anyone is exposed to crime and issues related to it.Will follow up on the letters that he wrote to president Bush asking for additional funds.
